Five prison officials at the Boosa prisons have been interdicted over an incident where an inmate had damaged 23 CCTV cameras on Saturday as a full investigation into the motive is underway.
The prisoner identified as Ruwan Prasad Kumara alias ‘Sugandan’ who had been transferred from the Angunukolapelessa prisons had damaged the cameras.
The incident had taken place on Saturday when the prisons had been taken out of the cells for physical exercises on Saturday.
The prisoners had scaled the wall to damage the cameras.
The prison officials including jailors have been interdicted for their failure to supervise the prisoners.
Further inquiries are underway to ascertain whether the cameras were damaged to planout for some of the prisoners to escape.
