The cabinet has approved a proposal to delay monthly salaries of staff grade officers by a few days from the due date.
However salaries of non-executive grades will be paid on the due date, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said.
"Salaries for staff grade employees could be dealyed by two to three days or a week," he said.
The measure has been taken until the new revenue collection systems are in place and the Treasury needs to manage the disbursement of funds for the next few months.
Minister Gunawardena said this measure was being taken for the first time.
