Rains predicted in several areas
Rainy conditions over the island will be increased from today evening, the Meteorology Department said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, Eastern, Uva, North-Central and Central provinces. Very heavy showers about 150mm are likely at some places.
Low pressure area over the southeast bay of Bengal is likely to move west northwestwards towards the eastern coast of Sri Lanka on February 01.

SLAF Bell 212 crashes into Maduru Oya
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
