A person in connection with the death of one of the three suspects whom the villagers and householders assaulted and handed over to the police regarding a robbery at Wewegama in Sooriyawewa, was ordered to be reminded by Hambantota magistrate on Monday (3).
The suspect (37) is a resident of Sooriyawewa.
The householders and some neighbouring people have caught these suspects and thourally assaulted them who were found stealing a water motor from a house one Saturday (1) and handed them over to Sooriyawewa police by the house owner himself.
The police have admitted them to Sooriyawewa Divisional hospital and one suspect who was in a critical condition has died while taking him to Matara General hospital.
An entry has been lodged by a relative of the deceased with Sooriyawewa police and the police have taken into custody a suspect on (2) residing in Wewegama.
Sooriyawewa police are conducting an investigation under the instructions of SSP Tangalle K.B.Keerthiratne.
