Two more deaths were caused today due to accidents caused by trees falling on to the roads and in related accidents.
A 22 year old girl riding a motor cycle was killed when a branch of a tree fell on her in the Battaluoya area of the Puttalam district.
The victim was identified as Kaushalya Wickremesinghe.
Another girl who was riding on the pillion of the bike was injured.
In another incident a motor cyclist who crashed onto to a tree that had already fallen in the Hanwella area was killed.
He was identified as Anuruddha Liyanage.
Accordingly the death toll in similar incident has risen to six in two days.
Two women were killed in Marawila and Madampe yesterday after trees toppled on to them while two males were killed in Galle and Balangoda. All incidents were reported yesterday.
Disaster Management Centre officials said that there was a high risk in trees falling due to heavy winds and requested the public to take precautions.
In Colombo alone over 20 incidents where trees had fallen across the roads have been reported in the past four days.
