Sri Lanka and Thailand are set to sign a bilateral aviation services agreement during Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s upcoming visit to Colombo.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a bilateral aviation services agreement between Sri Lanka and Thailand on June 19, 2018.
On Monday (29), the Cabinet approved Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Services Nimal Siripala de Silva’s proposal to sign a bilateral Aviation Agreement.
The Thai Prime Minister will visit Sri Lanka from February 3-4, attending the 76th Independence ceremony as Guest of Honour at President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s invitation.
The Thai PM is expected to have official discussions with President Wickremesinghe and witness the signing of the Sri Lanka-Thailand Free Trade Agreement (SLTFTA) during the visit, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The SLTFTA is anticipated to be signed between Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security, Nalin Fernando.
Accordingly, enhancing trade and investment ties between the two nations and fostering greater integration with ASEAN economies are among which the SLTFTA has in store.
