Sri Lanka Navy’s SLNS Shakthi (L880) is scheduled to sail to Chennai, India to transport a consignment of oxygen which was ordered by the government in order to meet the oxygen shortage, Navy said.
Last week, the government through the Foreign Ministry placed an order to purchase 100 Metric Tonnes of oxygen from India as health authorities are struggling with an increasing number of delta variant COVID-19 cases.
The latest death toll due to COVID-19 on Sunday was placed at 161, while 3,435 cases were reported.
