The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has suspended the party membership of Anuradhapura District MP S.M. Chandrasena, Ratnapura District MP Pavithra Wanniarachchi, and Kalutara District MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena.
Their suspension comes as a consequence of defying the SLPP Politburo’s decision, made during its meeting on July 29, to back the party's presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa.
Additionally, their positions in the SLPP’s All-Island Working Committee, Executive Committee, and Politburo have also been revoked, according to a statement issued by the party.
