The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a suspect wanted for the murder of an indivual on February 19 this year.
STF officers who were conducting a search operation in the Bloemendhal area yesterday (21) had arrested a person who was behaving suspiciously. A search of the suspect revealed he had three sharp weapons in his possession, Police Media Unit stated.
Upon further questioning, the STF uncovered that the suspect in their custody was wanted by police for the February 19 incident where a person was hacked to death in Kotahena. A sword the suspect is thought to have used to commit the crime was later recovered by STF officers from a hiding place near a block of flats in Bloemendhal.
The 26-year-old suspect is a resident of Kotahena. The STF has handed him over to the Kotahena Police for further investigations.
