The Samagi Jana Balawegaya organised another protest in the Ambalantota town today against alleged government attempts to stifle the voices of the opposition.
The protestors carried banners in support of jailed SJB MP Ranjan Ramanayake and in support of MP Harin Fernando.
Similar protests have been held in different places throughout the country in the last two weeks.
The moves came a day after a group demonstrated close to the President’s office demanding that Mr Ramanayake be given a Presidential pardon.
He was sentenced for a four year term after being found guilty for contempt of Court.
Meanwhile Mr Ramanayake was transferred to the Angunukolapelessa prisons today after being under quarantine for a two week period at the Pallansena open prisons in Negombo.
The SJB hopes to continue its protest campaigns against the government in other towns as well.
