The Second Reading of Budget 2025 was passed in Parliament a short while ago by a majority of 109 votes.
The Bill received 155 votes in favour and 46 against.
Today was the seventh and final day of the debate on the Second Reading of Budget 2025, which President Anura Kumara Dissanayake presented to Parliament on February 17 in his capacity as the Minister of Finance.
With the debate on the Second Reading now concluded, Parliament will commence the debate on the Committee Stage of Budget 2025 from Thursday (27). The debate will continue for 19 days and conclude on March 21, with a vote on the Third Reading of the Bill scheduled for 6.00pm on that date.
