An attempt to rob money while the cash was being loaded into a private bank ATM machine in Anuradhapura today (6) morning was foiled after the security guard put up a struggle to save the money.
In the scuffle the fire arm of the security officer had gone off accidentally and the robbers had escaped on the motorcycle they arrived in leaving behind the cash.
However, the security guard was injured and rushed to hospital.
The money was being loaded into the machine when the robbers had tried to remove the cash.
Investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Anuradhapura Police.
