A street-food seller who behaved in an abusive manner towards a tourist, trying to purchase food in Hulftsdorp was produced in courts today after a video recorded by the foreigner went viral on social media.
The suspect was granted bail of Rs. 50,000 in cash and a Rs one million surety bail.
He was arrested by the Keselwatta police and produce in courts as the action was damaging to the tourism industry.
The foreigner had inquired about the price of a Kottu and had been told that it would cost Rs. 1,900. The tourist had said the price was too high and the vendor had rudely driven the tourist away.
