A one-day token strike by supplementary medical professionals in hospitals island wide over seven demands crippled medical services.
The patients lamented that they were unable to obtain CT and MRI scans, x rays, blood reports and other services which required support of supplementary medical professionals.
Even though the doctors were there services of pharmacists and other supplementary were unavailable due to the strike.
The medical professionals such as Radiologic Technologists, Laboratory Scientist, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, and Occupational Therapists of five trade unions have collaborated as Joint Force of Supplementary Medical Services and called on the strike.
The strike was called on due to delaying of circulars regarding promoting professionals to higher grades, stopping new appointments of supplementary medical professionals and delay of appointment procedure amendment.
