Another suspect in the Beliatta mass shooting, which left five people dead, has been detained by the Police.
This increases the number of individuals arrested in connection with the quintuple murder to 13.
On Tuesday (6), the suspect has turned himself in to the Police through a Lawyer.
Aged 24, he has been identified as a resident of the Imbulgoda area of Akuressa, Matara.
On January 22, a group of people who had arrived in an SUV shot five persons who were travelling in a defender dead.
Four individuals were killed instantly in the shooting incident that occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. The fifth person died after being admitted to the Tangalle Hospital after serious gunshot wounds.
Saman Perera, the leader of “Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya” was among the deceased. Sameera Madhusanka, Hasitha Chinsuka, Buddhika Rajapaksha, and Nalin Champika were the other four victims.
The SUV that was used by the gunmen was located by investigating officers near Vidyaloka Pirivena in Galle on January 24.
The driver of the SUV who is suspected to have been involved in orchestrating the murders, the wife and father of the primary gunman, a retired naval officer who is now at large are among those detained.
