Twelve persons have died from road traffic accidents during the past 24 hours, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
A police jeep collided with a three wheeler in Katumuluwa area along the Rambawewa-Narammala road on Sunday killing two persons aged 40 and 65 and severely injuring three persons including a 10 and 15 year old.
Close to 300 persons have been killed from fatal road traffic accidents and over 500 accidents resulting in serious injuries have been reported this year, police said.
