Two Councilors attached to Jaffna Municipal Council commenced a protest in front of the Council today alleging that the Mayor had intervened to stop development projects allocated for their respective wards.
Both councillors elected under the Tamil National Peoples' Front (TNPF) alleged that Mayor V. Manivannan who was elected under the TNPF ticket and later removed from the party is carrying out political revenge by intervening to stop allocated projects to their wards under the current budget.
The Councilors said even though they brought this incident to the Commissioner of Local Government (North), there has been no response from the authorities so far. (Pix by N.Lohathayalan)
