Two persons at a fishing wadiya at Narakkaliya, Puttalam have died and two others have been admitted to the Puttalam Hospital in critical condition after consuming the contents of a bottle found floating on the sea, said Norochcholai Police.
50-year-old Munisami Wishwa and 40-year-old Weerasinghe Arachchilage Thushara Sampath have been named as the deceased individuals. The two persons currently in hospital are Mari Muththu Gopal and WarnaSuriya Nilantha Kumara.
Norochcholai Police are investigating the incident.
Six Sri Lankan seafarers who were previously detained in Eritrea have been repatriated, officials said.
