Two girls aged 13 and 14 have died from drowning in Kurunegala, police said. The deceased, residents of Kurunegala, were bathing in the lake with two more girls when the unfortunate incident took place.
According to the Sri Lanka Life Saving Association, out of 800 annual drowning deaths, about 100 are children.
