The United National Party (UNP) has postponed its 79th anniversary celebration, which had been scheduled for this Saturday (6), on account of the health condiction of former President and party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
UNP General Secretary Thalatha Athukorala announced that the decision to postpone the celebration on account of Mr. Wickremesinghe's health was taken by the party's Management Committee, which met in Colombo today (2).
She further stated that the postponed anniversary celebration will be held later this month on an alternative date.
The General Secretary explained that the decision to postpone the celebration was taken based on medical advice given to former President Wickremesinghe as well as the requests of members of the Management Committee.
