The Fuel Distributors’ Association has assured that fuel supply at all filling stations will remain uninterrupted during the festive season.
The Association’s Joint Secretary, Kapila Naotunna, confirmed that the assurance proceeds out of a court order that prohibited the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) from imposing a monthly usage fee.
Besides, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been instructed to suspend planned power interruptions for non-essential maintenance work on weekends and holidays to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
New guidelines will be provided in due course on scheduled power outages for maintenance work that are in accordance with worldwide standards, according to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera.
The decision follows complaints from electricity consumers about frequent power interruptions for maintenance work.
Meanwhile, The Ministry has also noted that planned power interruptions over the weekend are equally causing significant overtime costs for the CEB.
