Sports Minister Harin Fernando announced that Upul Tharanga will replace Pramodya Wickramasinghe as Chairman of the Cricket Selection Committee, that was appointed in April 2021 by the then Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa.
The existing committee members are Romesh Kaluwitharana, Hemantha Wickramaratne, Varuna Waragoda, S. H. U Karnain, and B.A. Thilaka Nilmini Gunarathne.
However, Minister Harin Fernando failed to comment on when the new selection committee will be appointed.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
