Badulla District MP Vadivel Suresh has been appointed as the State Minister of Labour, while MP Ali Zahir Moulana is now the Non-Cabinet Minister for Development Projects.
Both were sworn in before President Ranil Wickremesinghe today.
Mr. Suresh, initially elected from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) in 2020, but was removed as the SJB’s Passara Organiser last year after voting for the 2024 Budget.
He was later appointed as an advisor to the President on integrating up-country Tamils.
Mr. Moulana, from the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), took his parliamentary seat on October 17 to replace former minister Naseer Ahamed and recently extended support for President Wickremesinghe in the upcoming presidential election.
