Vegetable stalls have been set up at 75 selected Lanka Sathosa outlets in the Western Province to sell vegetables to customers at concessionary rates, the Ministry of Finance stated.
The stalls have been set up at 26 Sathosa outlets in the Colombo district, 41 in the Gampaha district and eight in the Kalutara district.
Vegetables such as carrots, leeks, beetroot, tomato, pumpkin, brinjal and cabbage, whose prices are currently high on the market, will be sold at concessionary rates at these outlets, the ministry said.
The new programme is being implemented jointly by the Ministry of Finance, District Secretaries and the Samurdhi Development Authority. It is to be expanded later to cover areas outside the Western Province.
