President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera as the new Navy Commander.
His letter of appointment to the post was handed over by President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake.
Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne relinquished command of the Sri Lanka Navy on completion of his tenure today. He took over as the Commander on July 15, 2020.
The outgoing Commander handed over duties of the command to his successor at the Commander’s office.
Ajith Gallage, the owner of a Bird Park in Nagarawawa, Hambantota, has been remanded over allegations of concealing illegally imported motorcycles, in a warehouse owned by him.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
