Convener of the Inter University Students' Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige, who had been in remand custody under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), was released by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today.
Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis released the student leader after ruling that charges leveled under the PTA are not applicable for Mr Mudalige.
The IUSF Convener was arrested in August last year on charges of committing offences under the PTA.
However, he will continue to remain in remand custody in connection with a number of other cases filed against him.
