Issuance of electronic water bills in place of printed bills will get underway from October 1, 2023, confirmed the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) today (September 26).
Wording on this, the Deputy General Manager (Billing) of the NWSDB Piyal Pathmanatha said that this new drive will be initiated in four selected administrative areas namely Colombo-South, Kandy South, Trincomalee, and Polonnaruwa as the first phase.
Adding that, DGM Pathmanatha said it is the NWSDB’s hope to develop their move across the nation by January 1, 2024.
He also assured that the water bills would be at hand accurately and in due time through this new approach and reminded that more detailed information in this regard, can be easily approached via the NWSDB hotline 1939.
The NWSDB further stands ready to provide the water bill in printed form to consumers who do not have smartphones in their possession and encourages the community to adapt to this new system in the best way possible.
