The Department of Meteorology says that mainly fair weather will persist around the island apart from Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts where showers are expected occasionally.
Western slopes of the central hills, Northern, and North-central provinces and Monaragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts are expected to witness moderately high winds of 40 KMPH.
Showers or thundershowers will pass off in the off shore areas extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle.
The Met dept. further said that south-westerly winds of about 30-40 KMPH may advance into 50-60 KMPH intermittently in the marine areas off the coast widening from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanturai.
Although the rest of the sea areas around the island will remain moderate, the sea areas off the coast expanding from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanturai will be periodically rough.
Strong gusts of wind and stormy seas are also foreseen during thundershowers transiently.
