The Department of Meteorology noted that the present wet weather conditions over the island are most likely to intensify in the following days as of today (27).
Occasional showers or thundershowers are expected in Eastern, Northern, and North-central Provinces.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are on the cards in several areas of the remaining provinces after 2:00 pm, a Duty Meteorologist of the Met. Department said.
Moderately heavy rainfall over 75mm is due at certain places in Eastern, Uva, Western, and Sabaragamuwa Provinces along with Galle and Matara Districts.
The public is urged to take necessary precautions to prevent damage from temporary strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
