SLPP Parliamentarian Wijedasa Rajapakshe’s son Rakhitha Rajapakshe has been arrested by Welikada Police over an accident that occurred in Welikada, Rajagiriya last night, police said.
Four persons were injured when their car collided head-on with the jeep driven by Mr. Rajapakshe. All the injured persons are currently admitted to Colombo National Hospital.
Police said Mr. Rajapakshe will be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate shortly.
A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
The UK government has unveiled a package of reforms to simplify imports from developing countries which allows for more garments manufactured in Sri Lanka to enter the UK tariff-free.
