A 20-year-old woman was killed on the spot and three others suffered injuries after a three-wheeler crashed into a fuel bowser at Kiriella in Ratnapura.
Police said the three-wheeler driver had lost control of the vehicle, resulting it crashing into the fuel bowser traveling in the opposite direction.
The 20-year-old woman who was in the three-wheeler was flung out of the vehicle by the impact and was then run over by the bowser. She died on the spot. The driver of the three-wheeler and two other occupants who suffered injuries were admitted to the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital.
The deceased woman was a resident of Ayagama.
The driver of the fuel bowser has been arrested and Kiriella Police are investigating.
