A 26-year-old youth has succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained in a shooting incident at Aliwatta in Mattakkuliya last night.
The victim had been shot by two unidentified men on a motorbike last night and died from his injuries while being treated at the Colombo National Hospital.
Police suspect the shooting to be linked to organised criminal gangs related to the drug trade and investigations are ongoing.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
