The All Ceylon Jamiathul Ulama (ACJU) has congratulated former President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his appointment as Prime Minister today (Nov 21).
In a letter to Rajapaksa, the council of Muslim theologians recalled it had maintained a “cordial relationship” during his term as President between 2005 and 2015.
The ACJU observed that “historic progressive developments” have been shown after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s election to office.
“We wish you honourable sir, and His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa to be successful in leading this nation towards development and prosperity, while preserving peace and harmony,” the ACJU said.

The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
