The Attorney General (AG) today (Jun 26) agreed to amend the indictments filed against former Defence Secretary and others involved in the D A Rajapaksa memorial museum misappropriation case at the Special High Court.
Additional Solicitor General Priyantha Nawana appearing for the AG, made these remarks when the appeal petition filed by former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was taken up at the Supreme Court today.
Initially, Rajapaksa had filed a revision petition at the Appeal Court seeking to overturn the Special High Court's ruling to reject his preliminary objections on the jurisdiction to hear the case.
However, the Appeal Court had dismissed the petition earlier this month. The former Defence Secretary's lawyers had then amended the revision petition and had filed it at the Supreme Court.
Further hearing of the petition will take place on July 18.
The AG had filed indictments against the former Defence Secretary at the Special High Court over a case that caused Rs 33.5 million worth losses to the government in the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa memorial museum.
