A Sri Lanka Air Force Mi 17 helicopter involved in flood relief distribution in the Baddegama area has made a forced landing, officials said.
The five member crew was safe and operations to salvage the helicopter was due to be carried out.
However as the landing had been made into an area underwater the process of recovery has been delayed.
President Maithripala Sirisena had spoken to pilot and had appreciated its efforts.
