Former Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam was today questioned by the Police unit of the Presidential commission on the Easter Sunday attacks on his role in preparing school text which contains information of religious ideology.
Mr Kariyawasam told journalists after providing the statement to the police unit that the questions posed were mostly on the role as the Minister in preparing the text books.
“The text books are prepared by academics such as professors and I told them as the Minister I did not play a role in preparing the content”, Mr Kariyawasam said.
Earlier persons testifying before the Commission expressed views about the content of the schools text books.
Kariyawasam told reporters that as far as responsibility on failure to prevent the attack, the person in charge of the defence should take the responsibility, as mentioned by the former UNP government.
