All-island rankings for Grade Five Scholarship and G C E Ordinary Level exams will not be issued in future, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said today (Jun 14).
"Why should we create a competitive environment for these exams?," the Minister questioned while addressing an event in Galgamuwa.
He noted that a ministerial committee has been appointed to discuss further regarding this system and to stop issuing such results.
Mr. Kariyawasam also pointed out that developed countries do not have exams which are viewed as obstacles to a child's progress.
