All state universities have been closed indefinitely from tomorrow (Apr 22) onwards, Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof. Mohan de Silva said.
However, students who are lodged at the hostels of these universities will be allowed to remain.
The decision to close universities was taken by the Higher Education Ministry and the University Grants Commission following the explosions which were reported across the country today.
Universities will remain closed until further notice, Prof Silva told media.
