Alternative routes for those travelling along the Colombo - Avissawella Road
The Police have requested motorists using the Avissawella Colombo Road between 5pm and 11pm today (Dec 29 ) to use alternative roads as the Ganga Rohana Maha Perahara of the Kanampalla Sri Sumanarama Viharaya is parading the streets today.
Vehicles travelling from Colombo to Avissawella have been advised to turn left at KosgamaSalawa Junction and travel on the Akaravita Bollathawa across Manakada Aswaththa road and come to the Avissawella main road.
Vehicles travelling from Avissawella to Colombo should turn at the Thunmodara Junction across Wagato Kaluaggala Junction and come to the main road.

SLAF Bell 212 crashes into Maduru Oya
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
