A land patch of 4. 2 acres that was used by the troops was returned to rightful owners of the families in the Kankesanthurai Central J/234 Grama Seva sector in Kankesanthurai on Tuesday during a brief ceremony at Kankesanthurai, Army said.
Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J) during the occasion formally handed over documents pertaining to that land portion of 4.2 acres in a symbolic gesture, enabling the Government Agent of the Jaffna District Secretariat, Mr N. Vethanayahan to go ahead with onward arrangements for release of the same.
A gathering of civilians and rightful owners were present during the brief ceremony, attended by Major General Roshan Seneviratne, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Senior Officers, Additional Secretary (Land), District Secretariat – Jaffna and Divisional Secretariat – Thelippalai.
