A 68-year-old female from Maligawatte, Colombo 10 and a 63-year-old male, a resident of Imbulgoda have succumbed to COVID-related complications, the Government Information Department said.
The deceased female has been suffering from high blood pressure and her death has been confirmed as a heart attack triggered by the virus. The male has died while undergoing cancer treatment at the Apekshka cancer hospital in Maharagama.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
