The appointment of the post of Chairman to several state media institutions is to be postponed till Dec 18.
Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Bandula Gunawardena said that owing to the upcoming General Elections, the government wanted to first have a count of the individuals who will be contesting.
Minister Gunawardena said that it would be a conflict of interest should the appointed Chairmans seek to contest the elections thereafter. As such this time period is being given to clarify such matters.
Currently the Chairmanship positions of ITN, Lake House and the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation remain vacant.
