The documents concerning the extradition of former Central Bank governor Arjuna Mahendran has been handed over to the Singaporean government, a spokesperson for the Attorney General (AG)'s Department said.
State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, Co-ordinating Secretary to the AG said that the 21,000-page extradition document had been handed over by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, last week took steps to send the document to Sri Lanka's foreign mission after it had been signed by President Maithripala Sirisena.
Mahendran, a main suspect accused of causing massive losses to the government by illegally issuing treasury bonds of the Central Bank in 2015, has been evading arrest in Singapore in the backdrop of court warrants and an INTERPOL alerts issued for his arrest.
