Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has rejected "rumours" of roadblocks being set-up in the Northern Province on the eve of the presidential election.
"The Commander of the Army reiterates that the Army has taken all necessary measures to ensure voters are not inconvenienced in any manner," military spokesman Major General Sumith Atapattu said in a statement.
Voting for the presidential election got underway at 7 am and ended at 5 pm.
