The Sri Lanka Army Headquarters has rejected reports that a group linked to the Army has been plotting an attack similar to that of the Easter Sunday bombings.
Issuing a statement, the Army said that such "false reports" have been circulating on social media, electronic, and print media platforms.
"The image of the Army is being tarnished while also creating an unnecessary fear among the people and disrupting their daily activities," Army Spokesman Major General Sumith Atapattu said in a statement.
Maj. Gen. Atapattu emphasised that the Army along with the Criminal Investigations Department would launch an investigation to identify the individuals who had created the false story.
