An army solider attached to the Commando Regiment has died during practicing for the final day of the Cormorant Exercise 2019 - a military field training exercise, which took place in Trincomalee yesterday (Sept 20).
Police said the soldier, who had been engaged in parachute training, had fallen into the sea after winds had blown his parachute towards the waters off Trincomalee.
He had then been admitted to the Trincomalee hospital following which he had passed away. Police have identified the victim as a 35-year old resident of Galle.
