The country's first fatality due to COVID-19 was reported this evening after a patient undergoing treatment at the IDH died a short while ago, Director General of Health Services Dr Anil Jasinghe stated.
The victim is a 60-year-old resident of Marawila who had underlying health conditions.
Authorities stated that the deceased had undergone a kidney transplant some years before and also suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.
