Avant Garde Chairman Nishshanka Senadhipathi who is facing arrest over a bribery case, and the operation of an illegal floating armoury, has been arrested upon arrival from Singapore today (Oct 17).
Senadhipathi, had been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department, after he had arrived on flight SQ - 468, at the Bandaranaike International Airport this morning.
Recently, the Colombo High Court lifted the travel ban on the Avant Garde Chairman after his lawyers had informed court that he would appear for the next hearing on October 22.
He has been charged by the Bribery Commission for offering a bribe of Rs 35.5 million to Rakna Lanka Company Chairman Retired Major General Palitha Fernando.
Meanwhile, Senadhipathi has also been named among 13 suspects in the case filed by the Attorney General against the operation of an illegal floating armoury. The case is being heard before a trial-at-bar at the Colombo High Court.
The suspects, who are facing 7573 charges, have been asked to appear before court on September 27, to receive indictments.
