The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) movement says that it will disband following the Parliamentary election.
"The country has a good leader now," BBS General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero told a news conference in Colombo.
He expressed belief that the country can move forward with a good cabinet of ministers after the parlimentary election. "Therefore we believe that our movement is not necessary anymore," the General Secretary added.
Gnanasara Thero observed that the presidential election results have debunked claims that a government cannot be formed without the votes of the minority communities.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa won 16 out of the 23 electoral districts, but lost in the North and East which is highly concentrated by minorities, to opponent Sajith Premadasa at last week's poll.
