The members of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) looking into irregularities in issuance of treasury bonds visited the Central Bank this morning along with the team of officials form the Attorney General’s Department who are assisting the Commission.
The Commission members arrived at the Central Bank at 8.00a.m and left around 12 noon.
During the visit to the CB, the Commission members were briefed on the methods adopted in sale of bonds and other procedural matters.
The Commission of Inquiry (CoI) is headed by Justice K.T. Chitrasiri, Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Prasanna Jayawardana, Judge of the Supreme Court and Kandasamy Velupillai, Retired Deputy Auditor General.
The Commission has been mandated to investigate and inquire into and report on the issuance of Treasury Bonds during the period of 1st February 2015 and 31st March 2016.
